March 29, a breezy spring afternoon for apples in the farm pigs area |
First Place goes to Finnegan While apples rolled around everywhere he managed to snag a gold one and went off into the corner to eat it. He is a 14 year old mixed breed who hailed from PA many years ago |
Second place is our big, beautiful, and very bossy girl, Black Beauty. She is a handful, best friends with Daisy, both 9 years old, who were rescued from slaughter. Between the 2 of them there is a fence to fix at least once a week! |
Third is Diamond Diamond is a Lanrace, a breed devleoped to be tall and lean. She looks like a daddy long legs in the midst of the stocky short pigs in her group. She is a sweet and shy girl, a touch of arthritis bothers her these days as she goes into her 9th year. |
Diamond's name came from her playing with a ball while she was incarcerated at the Nashville Animal Control in a cage. They said "look, she plays baseball!", and so Diamond became her name.

Oh Happy Pig Days!!
Marilyn didn't finish in the top 3 but she enjoyed her canteloupe very much, THANK YOU!! And had no intention of sharing it with Finnegan as you can see | |
Here's a way for you to get to know some of the pigs you sponsor and support at Pig Christmas, it's a mini fundraiser to help us provide a taste of spring at the end of the long cold winter as they wait for spring's new grasses.
Here's how it works >>>
Starting with National Pig Day (March 1st) and ending on March 29 , we will open the gates and let one of the adjacent herds come into the rotation field where we will have hidden some GOLDEN FRUIT; gold Delicious Apples, bananas, pineapples or pears along with red apples and other fruit/veggies. (enough so everyone gets some fresh crunch). We will film the pigs as they sort through the hiding places and discover their GOLDEN TREASURE..
Each major herd will have its unique eligible players.. shown below in the weekly event table.
The first 3 (eligible) pigs to find the golden fruit will be declared the winners.!
All sponsors will receive a gift certificate for participating in this year's spring games.. Those who pick the winners get to choose from a prize pool of available gift certificates.
A photo newsletter link to the Nationals page (this one) will follow with the pictures of the "game" and the winners . Video clips will be published on this page for you to share the fun.
